Perfect for those outdoor adventures where fire pits are not provided. We decided to invest in this Portable Fire Pit from Amazon for £25.98.
After reading the reviews, we thought that we might be setting ourselves up to fail - plenty of comments about being tricky to put up and the mesh not standing up to repeated use.
In fact, the set up was easy and pretty self explanatory, which was lucky, as beyond a few blurred photos on the box there were no assembly instructions! The ground protector was also a nice touch to prevent embers falling through and scorching the ground. It probably took about 5 minutes to put together which isn't bad. Overall, the Portable Fire Pit didn't feel too flimsy and seemed to be decent quality.
The air holes in the mesh mean that oxygen is free to circulate, leading to a nice even burn of the wood. Theoretically, only a light ash should remain but we had a few larger pieces of wood left at the end of the fire. The fire burnt well for long enough to cook our campfire salmon, asparagus and dill foils - and delicious they were too!
We were worried that the mesh would be really dirty and a pickle to put away, but it was easily packed down in a few seconds and neatly returned to its carry case. A real plus when space in cars/vans/backpacks is limited.
We all know that all wild camping or van life experiences should leave no trace and the ground protector ensured this was the case with this Portable Fire Pit.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with this lightweight and compact Portable Fire Pit and we did not experience the same as the negative reviewers on Amazon.
